Professional Background
Dr. Erin Buczek is a head and neck surgeon with a clinical practice focused on thyroid and parathyroid diseases including thyroid cancer. She is dedicated to novel techniques and innovations in the surgical treatment of head and neck endocrine (thyroid/parathyroid) diseases. This includes using leading-edge laryngeal monitoring techniques to maximize voice outcomes during thyroid surgery. Dr. Buczek (boo-check) is also committed to multidisciplinary, patient-centered care to maximize treatment, patient satisfaction and quality of life. She leads the monthly thyroid cancer tumor board, a multidisciplinary group that reviews all thyroid cancer cases. She is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. She earned her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. She then completed a residency in otolaryngology followed by a fellowship in head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgery at the University of Alabama Birmingham.
