Professional Background
Dr. Ethar Al Husseinawi, MD, PhD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kansas Health System. She is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, with advanced training in surgical pathology from the University of Kansas.
Dr. Al-Husseinawi brings extensive hematopathology experience from her work overseas. Her clinical interests include breast, gynecologic, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal pathology, as well as quality assurance, laboratory accreditation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
She currently serves the KU Community Division, primarily at Olathe Hospital, where she holds an active leadership role in blood bank and microbiology and participates in molecular standard-of-care committees.
Dr. Al-Husseinawi is an active member of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), where she is engaged in leadership network and mentorship pilot programs. She is committed to mentoring the next generation of pathologists and to extending excellence in pathology to community and outreach settings.
In addition to her clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Al-Husseinawi is actively involved in research and has authored numerous publications.
