David C. Robbins, M.D.

Professional Background

Dr. Robbins is a graduate of The University of Illinois college of medicine with post doctoral training at the University of Vermont and he University of Chicago. He is Director of the KU Diabetes Institute and the Cray Diabetes Management center. He is board-certified in internal medicine and Endocrinology.

Research

Overview

Dr. Robbins has been involved in major studies linking genetics of heart disease and diabetes in ethnic minorities including American Indians, Alaskan Natives and Indigenous people of the upper Amazon. He was a member of the Steering Committee of D2d, a study of the impact of vitamin D on diabetes. He sits on several NIH study sections and is an ad hoc member of the FDA Endocrinology and Diabetes Advisory Committee
