Professional Background

Dr. Daniel Murillo, MD, FACS, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Transplantation and HPB Surgery Division at the University of Kansas Medical Center. After graduating from medical school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Murillo went to Indiana University Medical Center, where he completed a general surgery residency. In 1996, he joined the Transplant Surgery Fellowship program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he trained in liver, kidney, pancreas, and small intestine transplants.
After completing the two-year fellowship program, Dr. Murillo was recruited to the University of Kansas Medical Center to help develop the liver and kidney transplant programs and to initiate the first pancreas transplant program in Kansas City. In 2003, Dr. Murillo left the University of Kansas Medical Center to direct a transplant program in Missouri. Dr. Murillo returned to the Division of Transplant Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2019.
