Professional Background
Dr. J. David Kriet is an internationally recognized leader in the field of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has served as the Director of Facial Plastic Surgery within the University of Kansas Department of Otolaryngology since 1998 and holds the WS and EC Jones endowed professorship. He has a broad practice that includes rhinoplasty, nasal reconstruction after cancer surgery, facial trauma reconstruction and aesthetic surgery including face-lifts, blepharoplasty, brow lifts, and otoplasty. His expertise in rhinoplasty brings patients from the entire Midwest. He served as co-chair for the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery Advances in Rhinoplasty Meeting in 2015, which attracted over 600 surgeons from around the globe.
Dr. Kriet is past chair of the AO North America Craniomaxillofacial Board and continues to serve as an elected international trustee for the AO Foundation with the vision of providing excellence in the education of surgeons and operating room personnel (ORP) leading to improved patient outcomes in the surgical management of trauma and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Dr. Kriet has authored numerous articles in prestigious journals and continues to lecture internationally on a variety of facial plastic surgery topics. He is a past Board member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, past Senior Examiner for the American Board of Otolaryngology, and reviewer for the journals JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery and Craniomaxillofacial Trauma and Reconstruction.
Dr. Kriet received his medical education at the University of Oklahoma and subsequent residency at the University of Washington. He completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Oregon Health and Science University before joining the University of Kansas Medical Center.
