Before Carli Zegers became a faculty member at KU School of Nursing, before she earned advanced degrees in business and nursing and led research efforts focused on health literacy and barriers to care, she was a student navigating higher education as the first in her family to attend college. In this video, Dr. Zegers discusses some of the challenges that first-generation students face and the unique perspectives and talents they bring to our community and the professions they pursue.
