Professional Background

Cynthia J. Ward, D.O., is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurology and a neurologist at The University of Kansas Health System. She has taught medical students in the classroom as well as in the clinic and hospital setting for nearly 20 years. She lectures on all neurological topics and in addition to the didactic teaching, she has provided clinical neurology preceptorship of third- and fourth-year medical students since 2005.

Previously, Dr. Ward provided significant contributions to educational and curricular development for the clinical neurology clerkship at Kansas City University (KCU). In addition to her academic and teaching activities, she has been a community neurologist for close to 20 years and has additional certifications in headache medicine. She has extensive experience in the electrophysiologic lab, performing EMGs and interpreting EEGs. She is frequently asked to give second or third opinion on difficult cases, particularly on the matter of headache medicine.
