We're your one-stop shop for temporary coverage in Kansas!

*KLT+ is a temporary coverage/moonlighting program that offers coverage for rural and urban underserved health care organizations in Kansas. Short- and long-term coverages are available for Primary Care and Specialty Care. KLT+ uses practicing physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical mission providers, and resident physicians to fill coverage requests.

Kansas Locum Tenens (KLT) services help address the shortage of physicians in rural and underserved areas by connecting providers with rural and underserved Kansas health care employers that need temporary medical coverage.

Resident physicians, fellows, and faculty from all campuses and programs at the University of Kansas School of Medicine are eligible to provide Primary Care (family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and medicine-pediatrics) temporary coverage through the KLT program. KLT services are available to rural and urban underserved health care employers all across Kansas.

KLT provides:

  • Primary care coverage for a physician who needs time off for personal or professional reasons, or when an organization is short-staffed.
  • The means to strengthen and expand the rural components of residency and fellowship programs and the perspectives of the academic faculty.
  • Supplemental income for a KU resident or fellow by earning competitive, fair market pay for service while still in training.
  • A great recruitment and retention tool for rural health care organizations.

Rural and underserved health care employers, including hospitals, rural ERs, primary care clinics, private practices, and urgent care facilities are eligible to participate in KLT.
