Alumni Reunion Weekend Schedule

Jessie Ball Lecture and Pinning Ceremony for Physical Therapy and Athletic Training Students
Thursday, Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
Battenfeld Auditorium

Join the Annual Jessie Ball Lecture and Pinning Ceremony for the Physical Therapy Class of 2026 and the Athletic Training Class of 2025. The title of this year’s talk will be “The Shoulders I Stand On” given by Lisa Stehno-Bittel, PhD, BS'83, FAIMBE.


Gold Medal Breakfast - $15 fee

Friday, Oct. 6 at 8 a.m.
Health Education Building, Ad Astra Room

Members of the 1973 classes: you and your guests are invited to attend this special breakfast honoring your 50th reunion. During the breakfast, you’ll receive your gold medal pins and share memories of your time at KU Medical Center.


Botanic Gardens Tours - morning and afternoon tours!
Friday, Oct. 6 at 10:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m
Tours meet in the Health Education Building, ground floor lobby

Take a stroll through beautiful campus gardens. The Botanic Gardens at the University of Kansas Medical Center utilizes plants and nature’s beneficial properties to educate, uplift and inspire healthy communities.


KU Medical Center Historical Tours - morning and afternoon tours!
Friday, Oct. 6 at 10:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.
Tours meet on the Health Education Building bridge

This historical walking tour of the Kansas City campus will feature some of the oldest and newest buildings on the premises. Join us for the 60-minute tour to discover the history behind the buildings and the notable figures they are named after.


Neis Clinical Skills Laboratory Tour
Friday, Oct. 6 at 10:45 a.m.
Tour meet in the Health Education Building, 3rd floor lobby

Take a tour of the Neis Clinical Skills Laboratory (NCSL), an immersive environment where students can learn and test their knowledge, skills and abilities in a simulated clinical setting. The NCSL is designed to mimic a clinical care facility and includes outpatient suites, in-patient rooms, a home-care suite and more.


Zamierowski Institute for Experiential Learning Tours - morning and afternoon tours!
Friday, Oct. 6 at 10:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.
Tours meet in the Health Education Building, 4th floor lobby

Take a tour of KU Medical Center’s state-of-the-art simulation labs. The Zamierowski Institute for Experiential Learning provides the resources necessary to create immersive training experiences for health care professionals and trainees from all disciplines.


Alumni Awards Luncheon - $15 fee

Join us in honoring 10 outstanding alumni and honorary alumni. The Alumni Awards are the highest honors the KU Medical Center Alumni Association bestows upon graduates and those who have made outstanding contributions to health care. Virtual ceremony option is available! 


Health Education Building Art Tour

Tour meet in the Health Education Building, ground floor lobby

Join Executive Vice Chancellor Robert D. Simari, MD’86, on a guided tour of the commissioned artwork displayed throughout the Health Education Building. The tour will feature an overview of the art installations, as well as the design elements that inspire the architecture of the building.

Occupational Therapy Education Keynote Address and Reception - 1 CEU

Please join the department of Occupational Therapy for the 2023 Occupational Therapy Education Alumni Weekend keynote address. The special guest and keynote speaker is Catana Brown, PhD'99, OTR/L, FAOTA. Dr. Brown's presentation is titled, "Less Talking and More Doing: Things We Can Do to Promote Occupational Therapy's Distinct Value." A persistent perception in our profession is that others don't know what we do. This belief can undermine our efforts to promote occupational therapy and what we can DO so that others understand our contributions to health and well-being.

Visit the Clendening Medical Library & Museum's open house to explore one of the nation's finest collections of rare, historical medical books and manuscripts. While you're there, view the museum's featured exhibit, Beyond Angels of Mercy: Florence Nightingale and the Evolution of the Nursing Uniform, which traces the evolution of the nursing uniform from its inception to its retirement in the later decades of the 20th century. Class yearbooks will also be available to peruse, and refreshments will be provided.

The Gross Anatomy Lab's open house offers a chance to explore its state-of-the-art facility, which provides anatomical science education to students, healthcare professionals, and the community. During the tour, you can learn about KUMC's Willed Body Program.


Occupational Therapy Education Facilities Tour - 1 CEU

Tour meets at the Health Education Building Ground Floor Lobby

Take a facilities tour of the Occupational Therapy Education classrooms and learning spaces. To earn 1 CEU during this event, you will observe Lacy Wright presentation titled “Simulation in Occupational Therapy Education: Technology Innovation and How Fieldwork Educators Can Help.”


Occupational Therapy Education Open House - 1 CEU
Friday, Oct. 6 from 5 - 6 p.m.

Join the Occupational Therapy Education's open house to browse department and program presentations provided by current faculty and students. You will have the opportunity to learn about contributions to OT and other health professions from current students across the three programs. Attend this event to earn 1 CEU.

*If you are unable to attend the tour but observe Lacy Wright’s presentation during the Facilities Tour, you will have the opportunity to earn that credit during the Open House.


School of Medicine Society Field Day
Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Kirmayer Gymnasium and Field

Society Field Day is an annual event on the Kansas City campus for the six Medical Alumni Academic Societies to come together for a friendly competition of field games including dodgeball, obstacle course and sack races, tug-o-war and more! You’re invited to come watch some of the festivities and see some of the fun our medical students have outside of school. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be rescheduled for a different date.

Alumni Reunion Weekend registration closes Friday, September 29.


Registration cancellations must be received by Friday, September 15 to be eligible for refund. The KU Medical Center Office of Alumni Relations reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances that would make the event non-viable. Registrants will be offered a refund if the Alumni Relations office cancels an event with a registration fee prior to venue cancellation deadlines.
