Our Services
The Office of Communications at KU Medical Center is committed to the university's strategic plan to develop and support a valued and respected workforce.
Through their dedication and passion, our faculty and staff add value every day. We share this great work and keep employees informed through a variety of channels. Get to know a bit more about some of our major service areas and how to request support.
We manage external communications, like press releases, media interviews and news articles for the website and work closely with colleagues across the medical center, the University of Kansas and our clinical and community partners.
We have more information online for employees, for members of the media and for our partners. If you have questions, contact Kay Hawes, associate director of news and media relations, at khawes@kumc.edu or 913-617-8698.
We offer digital marketing services to support research recruitment, event promotion and academic program admissions. We help plan and manage search and social media campaigns with a wide variety of budgets, and we can also offer guidance on marketing efforts managed within a department or office.
To get started, please get in touch with Emily Miller (emiller15@kumc.edu), associate director of digital communications, or Kailee Canty (kcanty2@kumc.edu), digital marketing specialist.
KU Medical Center has an enterprise-wide email marketing platform available for departments and offices to send newsletters and other subscriber communications. The Office of Communications administers the Emma email system on behalf of the medical center, managing user access, offering training and liaising with Emma Support and Information Technology.
If your department or unit is interested in using Emma, or you have questions about sending newsletters or other large emails at the medical center, please get in touch. We typically schedule a brief video call to discuss your needs and share Emma resources. Contact Emily Miller (emiller15@kumc.edu), associate director of digital communications, or Kailee Canty (kcanty2@kumc.edu) to get started. Depending on your needs, we may also loop in our colleagues in Creative Services who offer custom design services for email and other projects.
We can help you create professionally designed annual reports, magazines, flyers and other marketing materials. We strive to offer high-quality graphic design services at much lower rates and quicker turnaround times than outside agencies. Contact Donna Peck (dpeck@kumc.edu), associate director of creative services, to discuss your project, including objectives, audience, timing and budget.
We want to make sure we keep our employees informed and communicate to them through the KU Medical Center intranet, news emails and other internal communications channels. If you have news, such as events, achievements and new programs, to share with the campus community, contact Courtney Haller (challer2@kumc.edu), associate director of internal communications.
We offer KU Medical Center faculty and staff professional photographic services, including portraits, event and location photography and a wide range of digital and lab services.
Please email Elissa Monroe, emonroe@kumc.edu, or Selena Jabara, sjabara@kumc.edu, to discuss your project or check on availability.
We manage the channels for KU Medical Center and the schools of Health Professions, Medicine and Nursing. We also provide guidance and oversight of branded accounts throughout the medical center community.
Whether you want to start a new social media account, freshen up your content or collaborate with the flagship accounts at KU Medical Center, we can help. Contact Emily Miller (emiller15@kumc.edu), associate director of digital communications, or Victoria Riley (valvarez@kumc.edu), digital communications specialist, to get started.
