Resources for Employees
We are eager to work with KU Medical Center faculty and staff who have stories to share.
Members of our News and Media Relations team draft and send press releases, coordinate media interviews, write news articles for the website and collaborate extensively with colleagues in the medical center and partner organizations.
If you are a KU Medical Center employee, the following information may be helpful:
Media training
We provide media training for interested employees and recommend it especially for those who could be asked to represent KU Medical Center in an expert capacity. Media training, which can be completed in a few hours, will prepare you to clearly respond to questions and effectively deliver your key messages. Contact Kay Hawes, associate director of news and media, to coordinate your media training.
Sharing your news
If you are involved in work that is considered the first of its kind or the best of the best, we are interested in sharing your story. We have a variety of methods and channels for sharing news, and we typically need to ask questions about your story idea (login required) to help determine our best approach. If you think you have a newsworthy story, contact Kay Hawes. Do not contact the media directly to pitch your story.
We are here to support our employees!
A complete list of communications resources, including guidelines for e-newsletters, social media, internal announcements, branding and more are posted on the myKUMC intranet. KU Medical Center credentials are required.
