Professional Background

I believe that teaching by example is very important. Residents are able to observe my interactions with patients in the exam room, interactions with other caregivers, my skills in formulating differential diagnoses and treatment plans, organization of the electronic medical record, and providing ongoing preventive medical care.

I believe it is also very important to hold residents to a high standard in their own interactions with patients, physical examination skills, formulation of differential diagnoses and treatment plans, organization of the electronic medical record and ongoing preventive medical care.

I think it is important for the residents to have a good knowledge of the pathophysiology, anatomy, pharmacology and other basic science. I try to ask them questions to assess this knowledge and continually push them to learn more each and every day.

Clinic. I see patients 4 days a week from 8 AM until 5:30 PM. Those 4 days I work an additional 3-4 hours per day reviewing test results, communicating with patients and preparing for the next day's work. In addition, I work approximately 6 hours on my computer at home on the 5th day during the week (on the day that I do not see patients in the office) and 2-4 hours on Saturday reviewing test results, communicating with other physicians and preparing for the next week’s work. In addition, I spent approximately 2 hours per week preparing for resident’s educational sessions.

I will have one resident through June, 2024. The resident is with me for two sessions every 4 weeks.

I plan to retire in December, 2024
