About

The University of Kansas Medical Center and the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX are dedicated to supporting outstanding leaders and educators who inspire an environment that engages minds, expands knowledge and fosters academic excellence. To achieve this goal, KU Medical Center must be free of all forms of illegal and unlawful discrimination and harassment. It must also recognize its regulatory obligations as an institution of higher learning to continually improve and enhance the academic environment. Our office supports all KU campuses in the mission to achieve greater fairness, care and belonging in our learning and workplace practices and to provide opportunities for all Jayhawks to meet their academic and professional goals.

Our Work

The OCRTIX resolves discrimination complaints, reviews and revises civil rights policies and procedures and receives and investigates reports of discrimination, harassment and related retaliation. OCRTIX facilitates educational training, and hosts educational programming on discrimination, harassment, sexual violence and other higher education regulatory matters, offering tailored aftercare and assistance in response to reports made to our office. OCRTIX also manages the Clery Act across all KU campuses, the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, the Campus Hazing Transparency Report and maintains compliance with the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act.
