How Your Dollars Make Miracles

The Pediatrics Department at the University of Kansas Medical Center is proud to be the local CMN Hospital in the Greater Kansas City area. The funds raised through CMN events go directly to fund pediatric research initiatives taking place exclusively at KU Medical Center. In addition, funds help sick and injured children being treated at the University of Kansas Health System. These dollars are used to pay for charitable care, equipment, supplies and educational programs.

Costco Turned Up the Noise in May

If you walked into one of our local Costco Warehouses during the month of May, you would have been greeted with the booming sounds of CMN fundraising! From hand clappers to hoots and hollers, every donation from a member was celebrated… loudly and proudly!

This exciting environment proved to serve Costco well as they raised an amazing $165,333 for KU Medical Center during the month of May. Rumor has it that some cashiers were given a donation to be quiet… but anything to help KC kids! This is the largest fundraising total to date and a perfect way to commemorate a 35-year long Costco partnership.

Always ready to compete amongst themselves and other warehouses, cashiers once again worked to achieve different donation levels and were then awarded badge ribbons for each goal they reached. Because of their hard work and the generosity of Costco members, colorful badges could be seen across all checkouts! Congratulations to the highest fundraiser: Jonathan Epps from the Overland Park Costco who personally raised an incredible $11,186!!

Thank you, Costco, for your fundraising enthusiasm! CMN is cheering and celebrating YOU!

Extra Life United Participants Win for KC Heartland

Extra Life United (ELU) provided some semblance of normalcy for our gamers while still allowing some to participate virtually if they chose. Extra Life United was held during Children’s Hospitals Week, April 12-15, 2022. ELU participants competed in a variety of games with their wining being donated to their preferred CMN Hospital.

KC Heartland gamers always make a strong showing at ELU, and this year was no different. Futiles finished second in Splendor and 8th place in Catan, bringing home $2,450 for Children’s Miracle Network at KU Medical Center. We had a three-way tie for 4th place in Pokemon Unite Virtual between iDraxis, *fin, and T3rdEye with each winning $240. iDraxis finished in 8th place playing Fall Guys Virtual and 10th place playing Halo Infinite Virtual, adding $925 to their 2022 winnings for the KC Heartland. Finally, Medieval Melody brought home $925 by placing 5th in Kingdomino Duel and 9th Place in Onitama.

Overall, our skilled and dedicated Extra Life Participants won $5,020 for kids treated at the University of Kansas Medical Center. We are grateful for all the gamers who represent KU Medical Center in competition and in the community! If you want to learn more about how to play games and heal kids at KUMC, visit

Loves Comes to Cameron

On Thursday, May 19, Love’s Travel Stops cut the ribbon at their newest location in the Kansas City market. This new location in Cameron Missouri, managed by Bob Bruner, is off of Exit 52 on I-35, and it boasts some great amenities including a dog park, full overnight RV hookups and a full service tire shop for the hundreds of trucks and trailers that visit them daily. The Cameron community is excited to celebrate this new location during their first CMN fundraising campaign later this year.

Students Celebrate Spring with a Variety of Events

DeSoto High School Dance Marathon hosted their 2nd Annual Dance Marathon. From a relay that had students sprinting though campus, to a boisterous game of Family Feud, students had a great time! They raised $2,600 for CMN at KU Medical Center.

Phi Delta Epsilon – MO Alpha at Rockhurst University brought back their signature event, the PhiDE Anatomy Fashion Show, after a two-year hiatus. Student models sporting body paint depicting lungs to phalanges, strutted and sashayed their way down the catwalk showing off a variety of anatomical designs. These dedicated students raised $496 for CMN at KU Medical Center

Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity at KU hosted a “Get on the Ball” fundraiser. Fraternity members took turns rolling a gigantic 6ft beach ball around the KU campus collecting signatures and donations for CMN.

Club Car Wash is Expanding

Club Car Wash is expanding its footprint in the greater Kanas City area with the addition of six more locations. In just the past few months, there are now locations in Kearney, Grain Valley, Shawnee, Overland Park, Independence and Olathe. The good news is that it is even easier to get a signature car wash from Club Car Wash and support CMN with their $10 Tuesdays promotion. With every $10 Tuesday purchase, Club Car Wash will donate $1 to KU Medical Center. In the coming months, there will other fundraising opportunities for customers to personally support CMN.
