Carley Ellis, MD
Professional Background
Carley A. Ellis, M.D., is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at KU Medical Center. Before joining the faculty in 2024, Dr. Ellis completed a fellowship in vascular neurology and her neurology residency at KU Medical Center. She attended medical school at the American University of the Caribbean and received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Oklahoma State University.
Dr. Ellis’ clinical interests include vascular neurology and general neurology.
Research
Overview
Dr. Ellis’ research focuses on stroke prevention and treatment. She has published articles about glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor treatment, concussion evaluation and recovery time and outcomes of SARS-CoV-2 related strokes. Dr. Ellis has twice delivered Grand Rounds presentations for the University of Kansas Department of Neurology. She also presented on secondary stroke prevention during an American Stroke Foundation Speaker Series event. As a resident, she was recognized with the Department of Neurology’s Research Day awards in 2023 and 2022.
Dr. Ellis has also studied inpatient huddle quality improvement and opportunities to improve stroke education among hospital staff.
