Professional Background

Dr. Alan Schurle is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology in the section of Critical Care at the University of Kansas. Dr. Schurle studied English at the University of Kansas before attending the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine where he received his MD in 2014. He completed internship, anesthesia residency, and critical care fellowship at the University of Chicago before joining the faculty there where he served as a career advisor at the Pritzker School of Medicine, the co-director of simulation training for anesthesia residents, and an assistant Program Director for the residency program.
He will continue his education work in simulation training at the University of Kansas as Associate Director for Simulation Education. Dr. Schurle’s research interests include perioperative acute kidney injury (AKI) and the use of simulation training for anesthesia residents.
