Professional Background

Angela Richmond, M.D., Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She received her Doctor of Philosophy in Biology-Cellular and Molecular Regulation from St. Louis University in 2010 and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Missouri in 2018. She completed her residency in Neurology at the University of Missouri and a clinical fellowship in Movement Disorders at KU Medical Center, receiving the Fellow Research Award in 2023 for her work. Prior to joining KU Medical Center as a faculty member, she served as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Missouri.


Research

Overview

Dr. Richmond’s research focuses on movement disorders, with special interest in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and Essential Tremor. Previous clinical research focused on understanding the genetic contributions to Parkinson’s disease as well as identifying and characterizing the biological markers of Parkinson’s disease onset and progression. She is involved in several clinical trials related to development and discovery of new therapies for Parkinson's disease and Essential Tremor.
