Angie Richmond, MD, PhD

Professional Background

Angela Richmond, M.D., Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She received her Doctor of Philosophy in Biology-Cellular and Molecular Regulation from St. Louis University in 2010 and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Missouri in 2018. She completed her residency in neurology at the University of Missouri and a clinical fellowship in movement disorders at KU Medical Center, receiving the Fellow Research Award in 2023 for her work. Prior to joining KU Medical Center as a faculty member, she served as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Missouri. As a teacher, she hopes to create a conducive learning environment with her students as they exchange knowledge and develop their clinical and scientific skills.


Research

Overview

Dr. Richmond’s research focuses on movement disorders and the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Previous clinical research focused on understanding the genetic contributions to Parkinson’s disease as well as identifying and characterizing the biological markers of Parkinson’s disease onset and progression. She is a sub-investigator on the Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative, funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation; and the PD GENEration research study, funded by the Parkinson’s Foundation.
