Ashley Askew, MD

Assistant Professor, General Medicine Ambulatory
Professional Background
I earned my medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine at Wichita and completed residency at the University of Missouri at Kansas City where I also served as a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine. I am certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Americal Board of Pediatrics.
Upon joining The University of Kansas Internal Medicine faculty in April 2022, I chose to focus my clinical practice to only Internal Medicine while continuing to maintain my Pediatrics board certification. Previously, I worked in a variety of outpatient clinical settings practicing both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. In addition to caring for the patients in my faculty practice, I also serve as an Internal Medicine residency clinic preceptor and facilitate educational activities for medical students.
My clinical interests include preventative medicine, women's health, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, weight management, sleep disorders, headache management, and mental health care; but I truly enjoy the vast array of medical concerns that are common to the primary care clinician's office. I also enjoy caring for my fellow colleagues working in health care.
What I love most about being a primary care physician is the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with my patients and support them over the course of their lifespan. I strive to deliver the highest quality of care and to treat every patient as I would want for myself or my loved ones. My practice style is guided by evidenced-based medicine and a taking holistic approach in treating and preventing chronic disease.
