Professional Background

Dr. Hoover received his BSE in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa. He went on to receive his MD from the University of Iowa's Carver College of Medicine, followed by internship and residency training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. During his medical training, he was awarded a research fellowship from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, studying human papillomavirus mediated carcinogenesis and the immune response to viral oncoproteins during cancer therapy.

In residency, he participated in the Leonard B. Holman research pathway, examining mechanisms and novel therapies for cancer associated cachexia. His current clinical interests include treatment of gynecologic cancers, gastrointestinal cancers, sarcoma, and palliative radiation therapy.
