Overview

Clinical interests
I am a transplant nephrologist and a physician-scientist. I work with patients with kidney disease for their pre-transplant evaluation, manage patients during the peri-transplant period, and care for them after their transplant.

Research interests
My research interests have developed from my clinical experiences. I strive to provide better care and quality of life to my patients through my research. My research is on geriatric nephrology and hypertension with a focus on cognitive impairment, frailty, and quality of life in aging and in patients with a high burden of vascular disease. My work is funded by the NIH and PICORI and focuses on early detection and prevention of chronic kidney disease, cognitive impairment and frailty, with a heavy focus on patient centered outcomes.
I also serve on journal editorial boards, NIH study sections, and Data Safety and Monitoring Boards for NIH studies.

Current Research Projects
We have an incredible research team that includes undergraduate students, medical students, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, clinical research assistants, research coordinators, and faculty members. Our current research projects include:
R33 AG068483: Remote monitoring and virtual collaborative care for hypertension control to prevent cognitive decline. PI.
