Application for Admission
Application procedures and required application materials vary by program. To view a listing of all graduate degree programs offered, click here. The specific admission requirements for each program are detailed in the Academic Catalog. Select the program from the left hand navigation menu in the catalog.
If you are an International student and you are uncertain as to whether you will need a student visa to attend KUMC, contact the Office of International Programs directly.
The Office of Graduate Studies minimum admission requirements for both degree seeking and non-degree seeking applicants can be found in the KUMC Graduate Studies section of the Academic Catalog. Two of these requirements are:
- Minimum English Proficiency Requirement which is also posted on the International Programs website.
- Background Check requirement which may affect the student's eligibility to enter the program. In the case of students involved in direct patient contact, additional checks maintained by various health care disciplines may be required. Prospective students should check with their individual academic programs regarding these additional checks.
Forms for Departments
International Transcript Evaluation
In addition to sending an official copy of each transcript to the program you are applying, please have the transcripts evaluated by World Education Services (WES). The evaluation must include course-by-course evaluation, grade evaluation, and indicate the degree earned in U.S. terms (bachelor's, master's, doctorate, etc). An official copy of the evaluation is required. Please note: transcripts and grades earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated, even if classes were taught in English and the transcript is written in English. For example, transcripts from India and other former British colonies with widespread English language usage must be evaluated.
Direct Admit Checklist for Basic Science Departments
While most students enter the basic science PhD programs through the IGPBS process, occasionally departments may offer direct admission. In such cases, admission is coordinated by the specific department. This checklist provides the steps necessary to process a direct admit.
