Federal Nursing Loan

This low-interest federal loan is available to undergraduate and graduate nursing students with a demonstrated financial need.

Interest on this low-interest loan does not accrue while in school at least half the time. The University of Kansas Medical Center is the lender.

Priority Deadline: March 1

Application: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Additional Items: This loan is awarded on a priority basis to eligible students. Once the loan is accepted, there will be further items needed, which will show up in the To-Do List on Enroll & Pay.

Interest Rate: 5% fixed

Does it have to be repaid? Yes

If yes, when? Starting 9 months after graduation

Annual Award Maximum: Annual Award Maximum: $8,588 for undergraduate students and $5,000 for graduate students

Aggregate Award Maximum: $26,928

Need-based: Yes
