Master Promissory Note (MPN)

New Direct Loan borrowers are required to complete an electronic Master Promissory Note with Direct Lending. The eMPN is a legal and binding contract of your promise to repay the loan according to the terms listed.

If you have not previously completed a Direct Loan Program electronic Master Promissory Note, you must complete one on the Federal Student Aid site.

You will be required to use your FSA ID. Get additional information or create an FSA ID.

If you are a new borrower through the Federal Direct Loan Program at KU Medical Center you are also required to complete the Loan Entrance Counseling and Quiz. Please complete this requirement at least three weeks before classes are scheduled to begin.

Important Information for Borrowers

Please review our enrollment information for a definition of half-time enrollment at KU Medical Center. If your enrollment status drops to less than half time, you no longer qualify for in-school deferment of your loan payments, and you either begin your grace period or your loans enter repayment. During your grace period, you are not required to make payments, although unsubsidized interest will continue to accrue.

If you withdraw from the University prior to the completion of your program it is important that you contact the following offices: Student Financial Aid, Registrar, and your program advisor. This is to ensure that the school can provide you with the appropriate exit counseling, including repayment and loan consolidation options.

If you have questions regarding your rights and responsibilities for the terms and conditions of the loan, contact our office by emailing financialaid@kumc.edu or calling 913-588-5170.
