Entrance Counseling for Federal Loan Borrowers

The Loan Entrance Counseling and Quiz is a federal requirement that explains your rights and responsibilities as a Federal Direct Student Loan borrower.

Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized and Graduate PLUS Loan Borrowers

First-time Federal Direct Student Loan borrowers at KU Medical Center must complete the online Loan Entrance Counseling and Quiz before loan funds can be disbursed

After you complete the online entrance counseling, we will receive an automated confirmation. We encourage you to print your confirmation page for your records.

Important Information for Borrowers

To find out your enrollment status, see our enrollment information. If your enrollment status drops to less than half-time, you no longer qualify for in-school deferment of your loan payments and you either begin your grace period or enter repayment. During your grace period, you are not required to make payments, although unsubsidized interest will continue to accrue.

If you withdraw from the University prior to the completion of your program it is important that you contact the following offices: Student Financial Aid, Registrar, and your program advisor. This is to ensure that the school can provide you with the appropriate exit counseling, including repayment and loan consolidation options.

If you have questions regarding your rights and responsibilities or the terms and conditions of the loan, or about this process, please contact our office by emailing financialaid@kumc.edu or calling 913-588-5170.
