International Student Fees

It is an honor and a pleasure for the Office of International Program team to serve the international student population at KU Medical Center.

We are committed every day to our following vision and mission:

International Programs Vision

In an interdependent world, International Programs believes it is essential for students, faculty and staff to have the opportunity to become personally and intellectually familiar with the people, ideas and customs of other nations. Such interaction not only promotes a universal perspective and intellectual growth, but it also contributes to the cultural and economic well-being of the university, the state and the nation.

Inbound Mission Statement

The Office of International Programs strives to provide support and services to international students, scholars, and employees that will enable these individuals to lawfully pursue their academic and professional goals at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

International Student Fee Rationale

Due to our commitment to the population we serve, over the years, we have diligently worked to grow our services, to increase staff training to ensure compliance by participating in webinars and attending conferences, and to plan and host social-cultural programs such as International Education Week, Culture Hour and Foundations in Global Health as well as to lend financial support to events sponsored by other organizations like the Indian Association of the University of Kansas Medical Center and the Bangladeshi Student Association at KUMC.

We have enjoyed a wonderful momentum, and we will continuously improve and increase our offerings  to our international students as well as keep abreast of the constant changes in the immigration world. Since we all understand that change and improvements come at a cost, we have found that in order for our programs to continue such growth and for our campus to keep pace with those in Lawrence and other surrounding state institutions, we have employed an international student fee.

Since Fall 2015, OIP has assessed a small $50 per semester fee to all KUMC F1 international students, which aligns our program fees with the international program at the KU-Lawrence campus and other premier institutions that have historically charged such fees.

We hope you share our commitment to providing services and participating in training and will support and understand this fee. Nonetheless, if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to email me directly.
