Application for Admission
Application procedures and required application materials vary by program. View a listing of all graduate degree programs offered. The specific admission requirements for each program are detailed in the Academic Catalog. Select the program from the left-hand navigation menu in the catalog.
If you are an international student and you are uncertain as to whether you will need a student visa to attend KUMC, contact the Office of International Programs directly.
The Office of Graduate Studies minimum admission requirements for both degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking applicants can be found in the KUMC Graduate Studies section of the Academic Catalog. Two of these requirements are:
- Minimum English Proficiency Requirement which is also posted on the International Programs website.
- Background Check requirement which may affect the student's eligibility to enter the program. In the case of students involved in direct patient contact, additional checks maintained by various health care disciplines may be required. Prospective students should check with their individual academic programs regarding these additional checks.
Forms for Departments
International Transcript Evaluation
The Graduate Admissions office on the Lawrence campus provides a fee-based transcript evaluation of international transcripts for University of Kansas graduate programs requesting this service. The evaluation report will verify if the degree is the equivalent of a U.S. degree and provide a calculation of the cumulative grade point average (GPA). Programs may contact Lawrence Graduate Admissions by e-mail to request an evaluation.
Direct Admit Checklist for Basic Science Departments
While most students enter the basic science Ph.D. programs through the IGPBS process, occasionally departments may offer direct admission. In such cases, admission is coordinated by the specific department. This checklist provides the steps necessary to process a direct admit.
