Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship

Our Postdoctoral Psychology programs prepare mental health professionals for independent practice and an advanced level of competence in a university counseling setting.

We are offering a Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunity in 2023-2024. The position is a one-year, full-time training experience.

Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship, Generalist Emphasis

Prepares emerging mental health professionals for:

  • An advanced level of competence in a university counseling setting

Program Overview

Prerequisites

  • Degree and completion of all requirements for a Ph.D., Ed.D., or Psy.D. in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited graduate program (provisionally accredited program graduates considered), and
  • Completion of a one-year, full-time, or two-year, part-time, APA-accredited doctoral internship (provisionally accredited internship considered) in Counseling or Clinical Psychology

Licensure Requirements
The postdoctoral fellowship positions are designed to meet licensure requirements for postdoctoral supervision as specified in the statutes for licensure through the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board in the State of Kansas, particularly statute 102-1-5a.

These requirements include:

  • 12 months and at least 1800 hours of supervised work experience in a setting involving the provision of clinical psychological services which provides the fellow with contact with other disciplines
  • The opportunity to utilize a variety of theories and work with a broad range of populations and techniques
  • At least 900 hours spent rendering direct psychological services
  • A minimum of 180 hours dedicated to delivering general or nonclinical services.
  • Individual supervision is provided at least one hour per 20 hours of direct client contact by a Kansas Licensed Psychologist who has been licensed/credentialed for at least two years.

While requirements should generally meet criteria for licensure in other states, we will work with fellows who have any special requirements.
