Professional Background

I earned my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago, IL. I completed my Doctoral Internship at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and two years of Post-Doctoral work in West Virginia. I have devoted my career to a personal and professional commitment to working with underrepresented and underserved populations and have done so in a variety of settings, including Universities, Community Mental Health Agencies, School-based Mental Health Organizations, and through Private Practice and Consultation. Throughout my career, I've been able to impact systems as a clinician, program developer, manager, and Associate Director.

I continue to enjoy the opportunities afforded to me to travel nationally and internationally as a speaker and presenter in the areas of social justice, women's issues, and the interface of Psychology and Theology. My areas of clinical and research interest include multiculturalism and social justice, consultation and outreach, K-12 mental health delivery, ethnopsychopharmacology and psychology, and religion. My clinical practice is grounded in an integrative theoretical framework that is informed by multicultural models and is heavily influenced by systems and solution-focused theories.

I am an ordained minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and Co-Pastor, alongside my husband, a beautiful congregation in Kansas City, KS. In addition to my work as a Psychologist and Clergyperson, I am very active in my community, choosing to serve on Boards of agencies that also are committed to the causes of Social Justice and Multiculturalism. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and occasionally can be seen as an actress in Kansas City's theater community.
