Kaylie Lyons Ridgway, M.S.
Professional Background
I am currently a fifth year Counseling Psychology Doctoral student at the University of Kansas. During my training experiences I have had the opportunity to work at college counseling centers, a private practice center, and the Kansas City VA Hospital.
Throughout my training I have had the opportunity to work with many diverse clients and client concerns. Much of my work with clients has centered around anxiety, depression, eating and body image concerns, managing chronic pain and illness, and stress. I take a collaborative, person-centered approach to therapy and work with clients to find mental health practices that work in their lives. I regularly incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Feminist Therapy. I also enjoy incorporating mindfulness and creativity practices in session when the opportunities arise.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, painting, and doing any new creative activity I can get my hands on - currently that is learning how to knit.
