Kate Papachristou, MSW, LSCSW
Professional Background
I earned my MSW from the University of Michigan School of Social Work and have been working as a clinical social worker for over 10 years. I have worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, non-profit management, private practice, and in higher education at Emory University prior to KUMC. I am personally and professionally committed to the core social work values of service, integrity, social justice, competence, dignity and worth of the person, and the importance of human relationships. I am licensed as a clinical social worker in Kansas, Missouri, Georgia, and Michigan.
Broadly, my clinical approach is compassionate and open, curious about the whole of a person and mindful of intersecting identities with an overarching interest in meaning-making and connecting authentic values to lived experiences, current work and future goals. My clinical practice is grounded in an integrative framework that includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and systems theories. I value creating a safe space for all and collaborating to meet your goals.
In my free time, I enjoy being active, spending time with my husband and daughter and exploring new places and spaces throughout Kansas City metro. I am a singer as well and enjoy performing in local community theater when the right show comes along! I love true crime podcasts and guilty pleasure reality tv shows with our cat, Fitzy, on my lap.
