Professional Background

I earned my M.S in Clinical Psychology at California Lutheran University with a specialization in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Currently, I am a 4th year doctoral student at the University of Kansas earning a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology.

My clinical experience is represented by my time at the Kansas City Veteran Affairs (KCVA) clinic and at a private sector clinic focused on high-intensity anxiety. During my time at the KCVA, I was trained and provided therapy to Veterans who were facing substance use disorder  (SUD) and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In addition to my time at these clinics, my doctoral program provides counseling through the lens of a positive psychology approach. I have provided an array of different treatment approaches such as: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-substance use disorder  (CBT-SUD), Hope Therapy, individual counseling, group therapy, and many more that I am happy to discuss.

My areas of clinical interest focus on depression, various forms of anxiety, life transitions, Substance issues, and trauma. My clinical approach is client client-driven approach in that I specialize treatment to the client vs. having a client fit my theoretical background. My research interest focuses on Men, Masculinity, depression, and help-seeking barriers to treatment.

My goal in every session is to create a non-judgmental space where you are allowed to be your authentic self and we can work on providing you an opportunity to have a rich fulfilling life that you deserve.

In my personal life, I am a food explorer and enjoy trying new restaurants in the Kansa City Metro area. In addition, I enjoy dog walks, watching sports, being active, and playing video games.
