KU School of Nursing re-designated a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by NLN
The school is one of just 16 nursing programs in the country to be awarded this designation by the National League for Nursing in 2022.
The University of Kansas School of Nursing has been re-designated a Center of Excellence (COE) in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing (NLN) for 2022-2027. KU School of Nursing is one of 16 nursing programs in the country to achieve this honor in 2022.
The COE in Nursing Education designation is designed for schools of nursing and health care organizations that have achieved a level of excellence in a specific area. KU School of Nursing was named a COE for creating environments that enhance student learning and professional development, a designation the school also received in 2017 and in 2013.
"In addition to re-affirming the quality of the education our faculty provide, this award keeps us always re-evaluating and working to improve our instruction programs and learning environments for students, and that means also providing opportunities for our faculty members to grow," said Sally L. Maliski, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, dean of KU School of Nursing.
Since 2004, the National League for Nursing has invited nursing schools and programs to apply to achieve COE designation, based on their ability to demonstrate in concrete, measurable terms their sustained excellence in faculty development, nursing education research, student learning and professional development, and academic progression in nursing.
“NLN Centers of Excellence help raise the bar for all nursing programs by role modeling visionary leadership and environments of inclusive excellence that nurture the next generation of a strong and diverse nursing workforce to advance the health of the nation and the global community,” said NLN President and CEO Beverly Malone, Ph.D., RN, FAAN.
KU School of Nursing will be formally recognized at the NLN Education Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada, as part of a special honors convocation on September 30, 2022.
