Professional Background

Dr. Ayman Albakour is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at The University of Kansas Health System. Dr Albakour graduated from the University of Damascus Medical School in 2012 with Excellence. He completed residency training at the University of Kansas Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency program between 2013 and 2016. Following residency graduation, Dr Albakour worked as a hospitalist for Oncology and BMT for 2 years, with focus on caring for patients with cancer and bone marrow transplant. Currently, he has working as a hospitalist with the General Medicine Division.
Dr Albakour also participates in KU medical school educational activities including rounding with students, clinical skill lab evaluations, and students patient encounter review.
Dr Albakour has an interest in Quality Improvement. He has been involved in various projects with health system committees and the Lean Office, resulting in various inpatient practice changes and improvement.

Overview

As a faculty member, Dr Albakour has an interest in the academic side of medicine. We practice evidence-based medicine every day, and medical research is important to enrich out knowledge. Dr Albakour interest lies in quality improvement projects that aims to improve the process care is delivered to our patients and community.
