Professional Background
Dr. Alapati received a BS degree in Molecular Biology and BS degree in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. She also earned an MBA from Duke University Fuqua School of Business in Durham, NC. She completed her MD at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Rochester, MI. Her internship in internal medicine was done at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, MI, followed by her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Department of Ophthalmology/KU Eye. After completing her fellowship in Uveitis at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, she returns to KU Eye as faculty, joining our team as a Uveitis Specialist.

Overview
Dr. Alapati has 10 publications in key peer-reviewed journals and has given 8 presentations at local and national meetings. She has a great passion and interest in global medicine, with experiences at L.V. Prasad Eye Institute and NRI Institute of Medical Sciences Department of Ophthalmology. She has been involved with the Health Policy Fellowship Initiative with the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and served on the AAO's Advocacy Ambassador Program.
