Alexis Carpenter, Ph.D., MLS(ASCP)cm, is a clinical assistant professor in the KU Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences and joined the faculty at KU Medical Center in July 2022. She currently teaches undergraduate courses in clinical immunology and microbiology. She also teaches courses in the doctoral program in clinical laboratory science.
Carpenter received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo., in 2013. She went on to attend the medical laboratory science program at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City and subsequently received certification as a medical laboratory scientist from ASCP in 2015.
In 2022 she graduated with a doctorate in microbiology from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas. Her doctoral research was focused on arboviral diseases and host-pathogen interactions.
Carpenter has previously worked as a generalist medical laboratory scientist at Saint Luke’s South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas.
