Research

Overview

Dr. Bur is a Surgeon-Scientist whose research is focused on developing and evaluating evidence-based interventions and technologies to improve outcomes for patients with head and neck cancers. His research, which is funded through the National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society and University of Kansas Research Institute, has been presented at national and international conferences. During his time at KU, Dr. Bur has built a highly productive research program to investigate the use of machine learning to predict clinical outcomes and head and neck oncology. He has been interviewed in ENT Today and invited to speak nationally on the topic of Artificial Intelligence in Otolaryngology. Dr. Bur is also the principal investigator of a trial of a multimodal nutritional intervention prior to major head and neck surgery and is the site investigator for a national trial of sentinel lymph node biopsy for early oral squamous cell carcinoma (NRG HN006).

Current Research and Grants
