The University of Kansas Medical Center Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) Organiation, under the oversight of the University of Kansas School of Medicine and the Univesity of Kansas Endowment Association, operates as a Section 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Friends of WIMS Since 1999 the University of Kansas Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) organization has provided women with the tools and opportunities to succeed in academic medicine, nursing and the health professions. Our Mission is to "enhance and foster the professional career development of all women faculty and trainees in the three University of Kansas Medical Center schools:  Medicine, Nursing, and Health Professions.

The School of Medicine integrates excellent education, scientific discovery, outstanding clinical programs and dedication to community service. The only medical school in Kansas, KU is acknowledged as a premier leader in training primary care and rural physicians, as well as some of the top research scientists in the country. The School of Nursing, with nationally ranked academic programs, prepares hundreds of students each year for successful nursing careers, as clinical nurses, advanced practice nurses, educators, leaders, administrators, scholars and researchers who play a vital role in advancing the nursing profession and the quality and safety of patient care across many practice settings. Our School of Health Professions offers more than 25 academic programs in fields important to quality health care in our community and continues its tradition of impressive rankings. Five of its programs are ranked in the top 25 nationally among public universities: occupational therapy (No. 2), speech-language-pathology (6), audiology (7), physical therapy (9) and nurse anesthesia (21).
