The Soaring Star Award's purpose is to acknowledge women faculty or non-faculty members in the KU Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Health Professions who are in the middle phase of their careers and have exhibited strength in leadership, mentoring and participation in WIMS programs.
The candidate must exhibit evidence of:
KUMC women faculty or non-faculty members at the level of associate professor or equivalent (basic science or clinical positions) in the KU Schools of Medicine, Nursing or Health Professions. Open to all WIMS committee members and officers and candidate must be in good standing with the KUMC organization.

The Soaring Star award was established in 2014 for mid-career women faculty or non-faculty members, including Advance Practice Providers and Clinical Doctorates, at the level of Associate Professor or equivalent, in our Schools of Health Professions, Nursing, and Medicine. One honoree is recognized annually at the WIMS Awards Dinner in August.
