KUMC Web Standards

What's new on the KUMC web site?
As part of the University of Kansas' ongoing visual identity initiative, the KU-Lawrence campus web site launched a new look and feel on January 17, 2006. It contains a new homepage, second level pages, and a web template for campus units. Using common design elements, KUMC's new web site was launched on February 10th, 2006. It too includes a new homepage, second level pages, and a web template for all campus units. View our homepage explained page, which details the elements of the new homepage.

Why redesign?
The goal of the redesign is to provide a more consistent experience for KUMC's online visitors as well as a site that is easy to navigate, understand and recognize as being part of the University of Kansas system. For a look at our past designs, visit the KUMC site archives.

What does this mean for my KUMC department's web site?
The new KUMC web site and template help integrate and connect all KU and KUMC sites by providing a common visual identity and consistent navigation links. All university schools, departments, and organizational units are asked to adopt the new template as soon as possible but no later than January 2007.

Internet Development will begin assisting units immediately in transitioning their sites into the new web template, prioritizing work with the larger school sites and working with departmental sites as possible. Those wishing to get started sooner can visit the Web Development Resource Guide for more how-to information.
