KUMC has purchased a block of licenses for a web publishing tool from Macromedia, the makers of Dreamweaver, called Contribute. It allows non-web professionals to easily update their web site and conform to the KUMC web
design guidelines. Among its features:
- Easily update your site. Open the browser-like window and navigate to your site, and click Edit.
- Undo changes to a web page by "rolling back" to a previous version of the page.
- Built-in image editing. Drop a photo where you want it, resize and crop it.
- Add new pages using the standard KUMC web template.
If you'd like to explore all the Contribute features, visit Macromedia's Contribute site. For tutorials on using Contribute, see the Atomic Learning site, which KUMC has purchased access to for on-campus use. For off-campus use of Atomic Learning resources, go to myKUMC and access them via the Training tab.
Information Resources will provide copies of Contribute to departments and assist in transferring existing web content into the Contribute templates, all free of charge. Here's how it works:
- Request to be added to Internet Development's queue of units to assist in transferring your web content into the new templates and cleaning up your old site (currently it's approximately 30 sites, or several months).
- Download the 30 day trial of Contribute from the Macromedia site.
- Take the built-in tutorial and browse the Atomic Learning Contribute resources.
- Request from Internet Development the license key that will unlock the trial to become the full version.
