KUMC Web Templates

The KUMC web site and template helps integrate and connect all KU and KUMC sites by providing a common visual identity and consistent navigation links. All university schools, departments, and organizational units are asked to adopt the new template as soon as possible but no later than January 2007.

Using KUMC Logos & Images
There are detailed standards available on the use of the KUMC signature file, seal, and jayhawk for both print and web media available from KU's Visual Identity web site. To obtain copies of appropriate KUMC signature files for use on your web site or print project, contact the director of University Relations, at 8-5240.

Templates
There are currently four templates available for use in Dreamweaver or Contribute. The use of FrontPage is being discouraged. We recommend using Dreamweaver only if you're spending a majority of your day doing web development; otherwise, use Contribute. You may find the basic layout with a right column looks best for your homepage, but secondary pages can do without a right column. You may use whatever combination of template files you wish on your site.

Basic layout with two columns in center and a right column [ example ]

For an overview of the basic elements in the template, see the Department Template Explained section. To get a copy of the templates, contact Josh Motsinger at jmotsinger3@kumc.edu, or by phone at 913-588-4801.

Using the Templates
We strongly recommend those who do not work on web sites as a major job function to take advantage of a new web publishing system called Contribute, which is available free of charge. Find out more about using Contribute at KUMC.
