Wyandot Development Corporation Minutes
(Wyandotte County Economic Development Council)
August 18, 2004, 11:00 a.m.
Unified Government Commissioner's Conference Room, 701 N. 7th Street, KCKBoard Members Present: Mayor Carol Marinovich, Bob Milan (Board of Public Utilities), and Mayor Clausie Smith.
Board Members Absent: Mayor Stephanie Eickhoff, Commissioner Tom Cooley
Others Present: Ron Cobb (CPC), Jim Thompson (Wyandotte Development Inc.), George Powell (BPU), Marcia Ashford and Carol Sharp (City of Bonner Springs).
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smith at approximately 11:05 a.m.
Amendment to the Agenda to Include the Election of Officers
Mayor Smith asked for an amendment to the agenda to include the election of officers. Mayor Marinovich moved to amend the agenda and Bob Milan seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Smith called for nominations for Chairperson. Mayor Marinovich nominated Mayor Smith, the motion was seconded by Bob Milan and unanimously carried. Mayor Smith accepted the Chairperson position. Bob Milan was nominated for Vice-chairperson by Mayor Marinovich and seconded by Mayor Smith. Bob Milan was elected unanimously and accepted the position of Vice-chairperson. Mayor Marinovich nominated Tom Cooley as Treasurer, Bob Milan seconded the nomination and it was unanimously carried.
Approval of Minutes The minutes of the April 28, 2004 meeting were unanimously approved.
Citizen's Planning Committee Update Ron Cobb reported that the committee will be restructured and refocused to look at other issues including local education systems.
Treasurer's Report No Treasurer's Report was furnished.
Host Report: Unified Government Ed Long of the Unified Government Department of Development presented "What We're Building in Wyandotte County". The presentation focused on older areas in Wyandotte County. The Speedway area receives a great deal of attention, but other areas in Wyandotte County are also being developed. Slides featured redevelopment plan projects and in-fill housing projects.
Other Business The next meeting will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20th, at the Board of Public Utilities. The meeting was adjourned at 12:10 a.m.
