Suggestion: Again- posting salary ranges with available positions would eliminate people applying for jobs that don't pay what they need to make and waste their time and yours. Although your site is definately not the only one who does this it does not excuse the issue. This will be the sole reason I will not apply with you. Don't think I am the only one in town!
Response: Thank you for using the KUMC Pulse Suggestion Box. KUMC prefers to advertise the job functions/duties and attract persons who are interested in the work first and have had success in doing so. Thank you. (2003-11-11 09:41:51.0)
Suggestion: Is there any kind of patient transportation for rehabilitative physical therapy?
Response: Thank you for using the KUMC Pulse Suggestion Box. There is valet parking available outside the Cambridge parking facilities. Once inside the hospital lobby, wheelchair transportation is available from either volunteers or the hospital transport department. (2003-10-14 15:07:15.0)

Suggestion: The DIVERSITY CALENDAR is EXCELLENT!!! We are using it for our school district's calendar. However, there are no dates for 2004 and our school year planning runs from July 1-June 30 each year. Could you try to include the next academic year earlier? Thanks !!!

Suggestion: The newl gravel parking lot along State Line Road (south of 39th) is a nuisance for the neighborhood. Not only does it look tacky with it's temporary fencing, but every time it rains, the gravel washes out into the street. You need to construct some sort of edging or barrier to contain the gravel inside the lot and on your property.
Response: Thank you for using the KUMC Pulse Suggestion Box. In order to provide additional patient parking for KU Hospital, this area was temporarily made into a location for the Hospital's valet service. It is not intended to be a long term or permanent parking arrangement. We'll followup on the washing of the gravel into the street. Thank you. (2003-07-08 14:13:07.0)

Suggestion: Dear Sir or Madame The bathrooms on the 3rd, 4th, 5th floor of the Student Center are a disaster. Can someone please clean them up and remove the urinals in the women's bathrooms. Thanks

Suggestion: There is a green truck that parks on the grass on the south side of 39th Street every day. It has torn up the grass with ruts, bare spots, dead grass, etc. It has parked there every day for several months, so it's more than just a temporary loading/unloading situation. We would all love to park so close to our offices, but I hope the security department enforces no parking on the grass in this location.
Response: Thank you for using the KUMC Pulse Suggestion Box. I was told by the director of our Parking and Landscape Division that the truck belongs to the Superintendent of the Wahl Hall renovation project. The superintendent was given special permission to park in that location. Thank you. (2003-05-15 09:20:50.0)
Suggestion: Dear William Koller or the Chair of Neurology: It is erroneous to say that Tardive Dyskinesia comes from long term use. A person could get a depot injection of Haldol and come down with it.I am afraid noone knows because to do a comparative study would injure people. My position is that it comes from minimal treatment or maximum treatment depending on an individual's predisposition- Ira Gruber
Response: This message was forwarded to Dr. Richard Barohn, Chair, Department of Neurology. Thanks. (2003-05-05 08:48:22.0)
Suggestion: I have searched and searched the KUMC website for the timetable of summer and fall classes. Seems like it should be easy to find. I know I can go back through my broadcast e-mails, but it sure seems like you should be able to access it quickly from the homepage. How would prospective students find it?! Just a suggestion.
Response: Thanks for your note. The timetable of classes is found on the Student Virtual Center, as is most links pertaining to student activities. It's in the Academics section of the KUMC web site. The direct link to the timetable is http://timetable.ku.edu/ (2003-04-25 11:06:30.0)
Suggestion: I think there should be a block on the KU MED internet system to keep people from looking at adult websites. There are people that are using KU computers to look at these websites. It is offensive to their co-workers. This may also cut down on the amount of spam from adult websites.
Response: The University of Kansas Medical Center expects all members of its community to use Internet resources accessed through its computer and network systems in a responsible and ethical manner, as outlined in its Appropriate Use of Information Systems Policy. The University of Kansas Medical Center provides access to the Internet through its computing and network systems at its discretion. In addition, KUMC has established an Internet Use Policy at http://www2.kumc.edu/ir/policy/internetuse.asp. Reports of alleged violations of this policy should be reported to Shelli Crocker, Information Resources Department Security Administrator at scrocker@kumc.edu or 913-588-7316. Suggestion: GET A BETTER SERVER. IF E-MAIL IS THE OFFICIAL MEANS OF COMMUNICATION, ONE WOULD HOPE IT WOULD WORK MORE THAN HALF THE TIME. GROUPWISE SUCKS. GET SOMETHING BETTER!! IT'S MIDNIGHT AND I CAN'T EVEN GET ON.
Response: Thanks for your note. Please note that if a particular post office is down, you can use the 'shared' button to access your mail. Though our email servers are extremely reliable, with a 99.99% uptime throughout the year, occasionally servers do go down. If you have an issue with your email or other web or network service, please contact Customer Support immediately, 24 hours a day, at 913-588-7995. (2003-04-18 11:16:56.0)
Suggestion: Assure that all employees and departments can be found by the search function on Pulse. More often than not, I cannot find what I'm looking for.
Response: Thanks for your note. Each KUMC department has a directory contact whose job it is to maintain his/her dept. contact list in the online phone book. (2003-02-26 11:24:00.0)
Suggestion: this is a very difficult site to read- exceptionally small fonts and blurry colors. I would expect better- This web ste is bad press for KUMC
Response: Thanks for your note. The KUMC web site allows the end user to adjust the font size within the browser, according to Kansas state accessibility guidelines. It's likely you've adjusted the font size but not realized it as few web sites have this functionality enabled. If you're using Internet Explorer, go to View, then Text Size. (2003-01-29 11:38:00.0)
Suggestion: You need to add strips and signs at 39th and Cambridge to warn drivings of pedestrians crossing cambridge. Cars entering/exiting the hospital often don't notice or yield to pedestrians at this intersection.
Response: Thank you for using the KUMC Pulse Suggestion Box. Due to the current construction, the normal traffic flow at this intersection has been altered. We will work with the city of Kansas City, Kansas and see if additional signs and markings are possible.Thank you for your comments.Rick JohnsonDirector of Public Safety (2003-01-13 09:32:00.0)
Suggestion: hello my main problem with ku is the parking it is terrible i like the way the emergency room parking used to be, to me if i have to go to take my family members there it is like going into a prison it needs to go back the way it was years ago i am totally ashamed of the way it is being run now. Thats why i am now starting to go to shawnee mission hospital its ok to make changes for the better but so far the ones i have seen are for the worse think about if a person from out of town was visiting kansas city and had to seek medical care where would they go?to a facility thats looks like a prison with high fences were it looks like their trying to keep somebody in or to a place that is comfortable to the eyes and easy access for medical attention? if i was to come over to your er with a problem i would probly have a heart attack just walking all that distance to the er!.. well thats just my thoughts sorry if i sounded rude but you might take a survey and find out what people think about your setup you might be surprised...
Response: Thank you for using the KUMC Pulse Suggestion Box. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced while on campus. The fence is a temporary, safety measure that is necessary due to the Hospital's construction.Thank you. (2003-01-09 15:42:00.0)
Suggestion: Do we still have a calender of events, if so could you email me thank you.
Response: Yes, the calendar of events is still active. If you go to any of the sections of the KUMC web site - General, Academics, Research, or Faculty/Staff, you'll see the next three campus events displayed in the righthand column, as well as links to the full calendar of events. The URL to access the calendar directly is:http://www2.kumc.edu/calendar/ (2003-01-03 09:04:00.0)
