Staff and Staff Dependent Rates

Eligible employees may receive a waiver that waives the required campus fee and the difference between resident and non-resident tuition if the student is classified as a non-resident for tuition and fee purposes in accordance with K.A.R. 88-3-9.  The dependents of eligible staff may receive a waiver of the difference between non-resident and resident tuition also.  Students who have GTA, GA, and RA positions receive their waivers through a separate process administered by the Graduate Studies Office.

KUMC faculty, unclassified and classified staff	.40-1.00	Fall/Spring: Employment must start the first, full month of the semester and continue through the 60th day of the semester Summer: Employment must start the first day of the summer session and continue through the 30th class day of the summer session, or have met the criteria for the preceding Fall and Spring semesters.
Dependents of KUMC faculty, unclassified, and classified staff	1.00	Same as above.  Required campus fees are not waived.

Who is not eligible
Residents, fellows, student assistants, KUPI, and hospital employees are not eligible for this waiver.  Affiliated corporation staff members (at KUMC this would be the University of Kansas Hospital Authority) with a 1.0 FTE may receive a waiver of the required campus fee only. Process

• Complete the Application for Staff or Staff Dependent Tuition Rates form.  The form needs to be completed every semester that a student is eligible and enrolled.

• Obtain the signature of your departmental supervisor on the form

• Deliver the form to the Office of the Registrar by the established deadline in the academic calendar.  Applications will not be accepted after the deadline.

• Once your employment is verified, the Registrar's Office will apply the waiver and your tuition and fees will be adjusted.

• PLEASE NOTE: Students are still responsible for adhering to the fee payment deadline on their invoice regardless of whether the waiver has been applied or the form has not been received by the Registrar's Office.  Any adjustment that results in a credit balance with the univeristy will be refunded to the student.
