Immunization Policy for Continuing KUMC Students

Immunization Policy

All students at the University of Kansas Medical Center are required to have a complete immunization record on file at Student Health. Immunization requirements can be obtained by contacting Student Health at (913) 588-1941. Students can check their current immunization status online at myKUMC under the "My Student Info" tab.

Any special circumstances regarding immunizations should be discussed with Student Health individually. Failure to comply with the Student Health Immunization Policy will result in denial of class registration.

Immunization Clinic

Immunizations are available at Student Health Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 AM to 1 PM without an appointment. Students may receive any needed immunizations at these is times. If these times do not work for you, please call 913-588-1941 to make an appointment. No TB skin tests will be administered on Thursdays. Any TB tests placed at student health must be read by a student health staff member.

A variety of immunizations are available at the Student Health Center at reduced rates. Among those offered are Hepatitis B, MMR, Tetanus, Varicella, and flu shots. All students MUST receive one annual TB test free of charge. Any student who fails to have his or her PPD test read will be charged $15.00.

Tetanus:
Students are required to have a Tetanus immunization (TD or Tdap) every 10 years.

Measles, Mumps and Rubella:
Students must show documentation of 2 MMR vaccinations or documentation of positive IgG titers for measles, mumps, and rubella.

Varicella:
Students must document month and year of disease, show proof chicken-pox vaccination dates or documentation of a positive Varicella IgG titer.

Hepatitis B:
Students must show documentation of 3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine or a positive Hepatitis B Surface Antibody

TB skin testing:
All KUMC students are required to receive an annual TB skin test as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for all health care employees. If a student is delinquent on his or her annual TB skin test, a hold may be placed on his or her account.
