Student Health Insurance
All full and part-time students attending the University of Kansas Medical Center must have proof of health insurance coverage as designated by the Schools of Allied Health, Graduate Studies and Research, Nursing, and Medicine. Policies and guidelines pertaining to insurance coverage may vary according to your academic program. Students should consult with their respective school to inquire about the health insurance policies that are applicable to them.
Upon enrollment all students are required to complete a health insurance affidavit form and supply a copy of the front of their current insurance card to the Student Health Insurance Office at G-116 Student Center. If a student's insurance carrier changes at any time during his or her enrollment, a copy of the new insurance card must be submitted to the Student Health Insurance Office. Each student’s proof of insurance must meet the health insurance requirements set forth by each of the Dean’s of the Schools of Allied Health, Graduate Studies and Research, Nursing, and Medicine. Failure to comply with health insurance requirements may result in disenrollment
The University of Kansas Medical Center offers a health insurance policy for eligible students. This plan, selected for the Kansas regents schools by the State of Kansas, is offered through Student Resources and is underwritten by United HealthCare. For information about the policy, please visit www.uhcsr.com/kumc
It is very important not to confuse the Student Health Fee paid by students each semester with the cost of Health Insurance Premiums. They are two very different things. The Student Health Fee paid by all students contributes to the operational costs of the Student Health Clinic and entitles all students to free office visits with a health care provider. Student Health Insurance Premiums cover the cost of health insurance.
