The foundation of Federal student financial aid, the Pell grant is for undergraduate students who have exceptional financial need and do not have a prior Bachelor's degree. Funds are not delayed for Pell Grants as long as student meets all other eligibility requirements.
Once you have received a Pell Grant for the equivalent of 12 full-time semesters, you will no longer be eligible for additional Pell Grants.
You are eligible to receive a Pell Grant for the equivalent of 12 full time semesters. Beginning in 2012-13 school year, once you have received the full time equivalent of 12-semesters of Pell Grant, you will lose eligibility for additional Pell Grants . For example, if you received a Pell Grant as a full time student for the 2011-12 school year, that year's Pell Grants is calculated as 100%. If you received a Pell Grant as a half time student for 2011-12, that year's Pell Grant is calculated as 50%. Equivalency is calculated by adding together the percentage of your Pell eligibility that you received each year to determine whether the total amount exceeds 600%.
