Amber Long has been providing inspiration and organization in the fitness field for 11 years as a director, manager, trainer and group fitness instructor. She assumed the role of Director at Kirmayer Recreation Center at The University of Kansas Medical Center in July 2012. Prior to working at KUMC, Amber was the Assistant Director - Fitness at Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center - KU-Lawrence for 6 years. In this role she managed the personal training, group fitness and employee wellness programs. She has also worked at K-State Recreational Services as the Assistant Director - Fitness, for 1.5 years in a similar role.
With a unique blend of experience in fitness management and facilitation as well as higher education and human development, Amber is a creative leader and teacher. She utilizes her education and experience to inspire a team of fitness professionals who create a welcoming and dynamic environment at Kirmayer. She believes that fitness is a journey, best traveled with encouraging company.
Privately, Amber is a fitness education consultant, providing continuing education, inspiration and guidance to fitness professionals of all sorts. She is also an active personal trainer and group fitness instructor, and works as a fitness writer for various outlets. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities, kitchen expirements and time with family and friends.
With hopes of creating grand partnerships through medical memberships and referals, Amber aims to bring the the Exercise is Medicine campaign to life at KUMC.
