As a fourth year doctoral student of counseling psychology, it is a pleasure to be a member of Counseling and Education Support Services (CESS) at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) in my role as a counselor-trainee under the clinical supervision of Dr. Dugan and Dr. Vandegeest-Wallace.

Providing support to university students of all levels is a passion of mine; although higher education is a time of excitement, it also presents with unique stressors that can have an impact on well-being.  The educational experience is indeed a process of change and development, and I believe counseling has the capacity to be an integral aspect of this journey.  My training has afforded me flexibility to support a variety of life concerns, but at the root of my work is the belief that relationship is a gift capable of healing.  In this way, I aim to build strong alliances with those whom I serve in order to best meet client directed goals and foster sustained change.  Furthermore, I value that everyone has a unique lens through which they see the world and I strive to see the world as my client does to provide the best level of care.

Outside of the therapy room, I maintain an active research agenda examining topics including eating behavior, body image concern, masculinity, sexual objectification, and LGBT concerns as a Chancellor's Fellow at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  With this investigative curiosity, I also serve as an adjunct instructor teaching Principles and Methods of Research to graduate students in education and counseling.  I am affiliated with several professional organizations that support LGBT inclusion as well as the advancement of counseling psychology. On my own time, I explore the city by bike, enjoy Kansas City cuisine, am eager to travel at any chance, try out new recipes in my kitchen, and am a secret news junkie.  I also hold a private pilot's license and have a set of golf clubs-both of which are collecting dust until I finish up with school myself!
